Sanitation

The City of Austin contracts with an outside waste management company for solid waste collection and recycling. Everyone within our water system is required to have garbage collection.

Extra home waste bagged outside of the trash container will not be picked up.  You may contact Waste Connections at your convenience and contract with them to pick up anything extra.  501 362-2666.

If assistance is needed or you have questions for the city, please do not hesitate to contact us.

For questions specific to trash or recycling pick up, please call the waste management company directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

When are the garbage collection days for my street?

The East side of the Railroad tracks (Orchard, Shadow Creek, Quapaw, etc). is on Tuesdays. The West side of the RailRoad tracks (Hwy 367, Weathering, Cross Creek, Austin Village, etc) is on Wednesdays. Please have your garbage out by 7am.

My garbage can is damaged, what do I do?

Please contact the Austin City Hall at 501-941-2648 (Water Dept. Option). We will make sure we repair or replace your can.

Not all of my garbage is getting dumped out of the can, why is that?

It is possible that when the truck grabs the garbage can that it pinches the can, not allowing the can to fully be emptied. Try turning your can sideways. If the problem continues please contact the City Hall.
